Native Ponies in Action

To be held in the picturesque Ayton Castle Grounds. An evening to show the versatility of native ponies. Bring chairs, warm clothing and umbrellas as demonstration will be outside. No booking required.
From south, approx 6 miles north of Berwick, take turn left off A1 for Ayton. In village, first right and stables 1/2 mile on right. From north, take sign to Ayton off A1, take last turn left before leaving village, 1/2 mile on stables on right.

Explore Endurance! a "taster" ride
Scottish Endurance Riding Club - Borders Branch, Byrewalls, Nr Gordon, Berwickshire
(east of Gordon, one mile off A6105)
10am - 2pm, cost £10. Booking required.
A 10km ride over a marked, measured route over a variety of natural terrain. A "buddy" will be assigned to each rider to make sure even before the ride that you know what to expect and what to take. Any horse or pony which is ridden regularly can take part. No unaccompanied children allowed.
Each participant will receive a £10 voucher towards membership fees if they wish to join the club after this taster ride.

Western Equestrian Society - Riding Western Style
Winkston Farm House, Edinburgh Road, Peebles EH45 8PH (From A703 Peebles to Edinburgh Road follow signs for Winkston B&B and Courtyard Cottages)
6 - 8pm, tea and coffee available. Entry by donation to BHS and Grass Sickness.
A demonstration of the difference found in western riding. Talk and demo will cover verbal, leg and body cues. Different tack will be demonstrated as well as demos on a pleasure type horse and a trail horse. The start of reining will be shown and a lesson to a beginner to western. Native horses will be seen as well as quarter horses. Please bring warm clothing and a chair as venue is outdoors.

incorporating Rural Road Safety Awareness event

BHS joins forces with Lothian & Borders Police Mounted Branch, the Jim Clark Rally and World Rally Champion 1990 Louise Aitken-Walker MBE.

Treasure hunt round local farmland and woods at Nenthorn, finishing with a family BBQ at Nenthorn Equestrian Centre. Some optional jumps. Adults and children can take part and can bring own ponies or hire from Nenthorn EC.
£15 with own horse. Extra £15 for those wishing to hire a horse.
